If you are tired of seeing the same-old designs for iPad headrest mounts then the Otterbox Utility is a product that may catch your attention. This product is more of a utilitarian case that can attach to the headrest. While we liked the fact that your iPad is well protected, it is lacking when it comes to the viewing angles. However, if you are huge into the outdoors, you may prefer the soft padded case that comes with the Otterbox to the rigid materials used for others. If you want something that is a little sleeker or a case that you just snap the iPad into then you might find another product to be better.
The design of this headrest mount is in a class of its own. Instead of being made out of a hard material like plastic or carbon fiber, it is made from a canvas material. This case is meant to remain on the iPad. It is made of straps and buckles that give you plenty of options for holding the device. The only downside is the fact that to attach it to the headrest you just strap it on to the back using Velcro. The positive is that it is really fast and will fit most headrests, but the simple design comes with its own drawbacks.
The viewing angle is where this particular product falls a little short. Because it uses Velcro to attach to the headrest you are limited to no tilt and no orientation change. Small children may have a hard time seeing the screen since it will normally angle upward.
The Otterbox Utility is fairly versatile. Not only does it work with both versions of the iPad, but it is compatible with the Motorola Xoom as well. All you have to do is slide the elastics over the corners. We like the cover that protects the screen when you aren't using it. It is versatile when it comes to how it can be used. You can remove the headrest strap and use the Otterbox Utility an iPad case. The product also comes with a variety of accessories such as a cover, an s-biner clip and several carrying straps so that no matter where you go you can keep your iPad on hand and in view.
If you are an outdoorsy person that wants to take your iPad with you even if you are going off the beaten track, take a look at the Otterbox Utility. This particular iPad mount comes with a plethora of accessories so whether you are in the car or out of it you will have it at hand. Granted, when you use this product in the car it doesn't allow you to adjust the viewing angle, so shorter passengers may have trouble seeing the screen.
