RGT Force Feedback Pro Clutch Edition

Posted on 22:48 by Unknown

The RGT Force Feedback Pro Clutch Edition wheel and pedal set gives you the features and customization tools you want for a realistic racing experience. This PC steering wheel excels in several categories, including its ease of use, design, force feedback and accurate response. This wheel works on both the PC and PS3. Everything from the pedals, shifter and the wheel are top notch. The RGT Force Feedback Pro Clutch Edition receives our TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award because it offers a balance of features, design and customization and takes a high quality approach to racing games and excels with its customization.

This wheel and pedal set ranks highly in every category. There are a few minor omissions in terms of design. With such a high quality wheel, we hoped for a leather rim rather than the standard rubber. Indicator LEDs that showed exactly when to shift would have been a great edition. However, its realistic look and responsive performance make the RGT Force Feedback Pro Clutch Edition a solid choice for a gaming steering wheel and pedal set.

There are four paddles behind the steering wheel. The top left and right paddles allow shifting up and down, while the bottom left and right paddles can take the place of the actual pedals and function as the gas and brake. These paddles have high sensitivity and give you full control of acceleration and deceleration. The inclusion of a solid clutch with the gas and brake pedals is a welcome addition. The brake and clutch give the appropriate amount of resistance, while the gas gives more slack.

The force feedback as advertised in the name of the product is great. It accurately gives you the feel of the road and you feel realistic resistance in your steering. We found this wheel to be extremely easy to use. Installation is not a hassle and the setup cables do not get in the way. The wheel can rotate up to 270 degrees. Not being able to fully rotate the wheel takes away from the realistic feel of rally racing but does not take away from the experience of normal raceways.

The basic design of the wheel looks simple enough. With a D-pad and a few buttons on its face, you will not get overwhelmed by the amount of options while in the middle of a race. The sequential shifter is very easy to use and feels very secure. It works best for normal GT racing, while the paddle shifters behind the wheel are custom made for rally driving. The entire wheel and pedal frame are durable and made out of quality plastic and rubber.

A flaw of the RGT steering wheel is one that many gaming wheels have. The mountable clamp is very size specific and makes it difficult to find the right surface or table to mount onto. The wheel itself also suffers because of the rubber and plastic wheel frame. It's very sturdy and can take a beating, but we hope Thrustmaster sees how a leather grip can enhance the comfort in a newer model. The fully rubberized wheel rim is comfortable and easy to handle but feels too small to simulate an actual racing experience.

It's extremely easy to readjust the individual pedals. They were designed to detach and allow you to flip them around and be adjusted as high or low as you want to reach your comfort level. The Thrustmaster wheel gives you the option to customize its 10 buttons. This device does have relatively few buttons to customize, but it doesn't take away from the realistic racing experience once you're on the virtual road. You can also adjust the level of feedback strength the wheel gives. ABS vibration and steering sensitivity can be adjusted as well.

Thrustmaster excels with its customer service. They offer a 24-month limited warranty and this device comes packaged with an easy-to-understand user manual. Their site has general FAQs and a more specific section for each product. You can also receive technical help by email or by phone.

The RGT Force Feedback Pro Clutch Edition is one of the best gaming steering wheels because it's an incredibly sturdy wheel that has a great balance of features, design and customization. This wheel and pedal set stays true to its name and provides excellent force feedback simulating the open roadways as realistically as possible.
